Donald Cliburn Jackson

Died: 13 Apr 2000, Kimberley, British Columbia

 

JACKSON, Donald Cliburn - passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years, after a courageous battle with cancer, on April 13, 2000. Donald was born in Kimberley on July 26, 1921. He received his schooling in Kimberley, he joined the navy and served from 1942 to 1945. After the war, he returned to Kimberley with his bride Lillian Heighton of Pictou, Nova Scotia. Donald works at the Sullivan Mine from 1940 to 1983, serving 42 years. Donald like skiing. He was an early ski club member. He liked prospecting, fishing, snowmobiling, trapping and hiking. He had a great love for nature and exploring, and he was especially fond of the St. Mary's Valley. Donald also devoted a great deal of energies in supporting community fund raising activities. Donald was predeceased by his two sisters Dorothy and Janet. Donald will be lovingly missed by his wife Lillian Jackson; one son Jim Jackson (Evita) of Sechelt, B.C.; his daughters Judy Jackson of Vancouver, B.C., Monica (Bob) Yakachuk) of Vancouver, Rhonda (Larry) Brass of Cranbrook, B.C., Donna (Wesley) Oviatt of Williams Lake, B.C.; grandchildren: Troy (Kendra), Terry, Marty, Jason, John, Evie; and three great granddaughters, Desjaray, Joslyn and Jewel; also several nephews and nieces and other relatives. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at the McPherson Funeral Home, Kimberley on Wednesday, April 19th, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Kimberley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kimberley Special Care Home (The Pines), Electric Bed Project and Alzheimers Wing c/o 386 - 2nd Ave, Kimberley BC V1A 2Z8. Family arrangements entrusted to the McPherson Funeral Services.
