David Owen Kiley

C.A.F. (Naval Reserves)

Died: 2020

KILEY, David Owen - age 61. It is with deepest sadness that we say goodbye to our father, brother, grandfather and uncle. David was a son of the late John Owen and Margaret (Christian) Kiley (of Prospect). David spent his early years lobster fishing with his father. In high school David joined the Naval Reserves at HMCS Scotian where he served for five years which lead to working at HMC Dockyard as a deck hand on several of the yard tugboats. He later moved back to Prospect where he fished once again until MS would no longer allow him to work. David is survived by his son, William Owen (Lindsey); daughter, Maddie; sisters, Dorothy (Danny) and Peggy (Trent); grandson, Benjamin Owen; nephews, Daniel and Joshua and niece, Nicole Margaret. He is also survived by his special care- giver and friend, Carol Garrison who David referred to as "Ma" as she took such good care of him in recent years. The family is eternally grateful for Carol's kindness. David was predeceased by younger brother Patrick, in infancy. You are now at peace, dear David. We wish you happy fishing with Dad. Cremation has taken place, arrangements will be under the care of T.J. Tracey Cremation & Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Bayer's Lake (902)-835-4212 where a Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 13th, from 2-4 p.m. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Melville Lodge for their wonderful loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Atlantic Division or to a charity of choice. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 11 Mar 2020)
