WILKINSON, Donald William - It is with a deep sadness that we announce the passing of beloved husband and father, Donald William Wilkinson. He leaves behind his wife Peggy, two children, Ken and Carmen, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and niece Kim Coady. Don served his country for 18 years in the Naval Reserve, was a member of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons and the Winnipeg Yacht Club, and worked 34 years as a firefighter for the City of Winnipeg. An avid curler and baseball fan, he retired to Qualicum Beach where he spent the past 17 years amongst friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and Stanford Place for their care and professionalism in Don's final days. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family very much. "My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." (Winnipeg Free Press 14 Mar 2020)
