EASTON, Alan Herbert - was born in Cork, Ireland in 1902. On 17 Feb 1940, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve (RCNR) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He died 21 Sep 2001, Ottawa, Ontario. He is buried in the Saint Isidore Catholic Cemetery Franklin Co., Vermont, USA

 

Distinguished Service Cross Citation:  EASTON, Alan Herbert, Lieutenant, Distinguished Service Cross (DSC), RCNR, HMCS Sackville - Awarded as per Canada Gazette of 21 November 1942 and London Gazette of 18 November 1942. "For distinguished service before the enemy. Lieutenant Easton was the Commanding Officer of HMCS Sackville when a U-boat was sighted on the surface. He immediately shaped course to ram and through skilful handling of his ship and devotion to duty, contributed to the almost certain destruction of one enemy U-boat and probable damaging of another."

 

Mentioned in Despatches Citation: EASTON, Alan Herbert, Lieutenant-Commander, DSC, Mention in Despatches (MID), RCNR, HMCS Saskatchewan - Awarded as per Canada Gazette of 20 January 1945 and London Gazette of 3 October 1944. "For outstanding leadership, skill and devotion to duty in H.M. Canadian Ships Qu'Appelle, Skeena, Saskatchewan and Restigouche in a successful action with enemy trawlers and U-boats."
