John Dugald Stewart

STEWART, John Dugald - Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on July 5, 2020 at the age of 89, Dugald John “Bud” Stewart of Dalhousie. Son of the late Reid and Annie Stewart he was predeceased by his wife Eva (MacIntyre) and son Reid Stewart as well as brothers Reg, Bill and Gerry. Bud proudly served 26 years as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces based at CFB Shearwater in Nova Scotia, at Sea and CFB Chatham, New Brunswick. Following retirement and return to Dalhousie in 1981 Bud served 12 years as Commanding Officer of 866 Dalhousie Air Cadet Squadron. Over the years he also held various positions including Chairman of the New Brunswick Air Cadet League, President of Branch 17 Dalhousie Royal Canadian Legion, North Shore Legion District Commander and President of the North Shore Naval Association. Bud also held positions as President of the Dalhousie Curling Club, President of the Caledonia Society of Restigouche and others. Bud will be deeply missed by those who survive him, daughter Dawna and son-in-law Kevin White, daughter-in-law Kathy Stewart, grandchildren Johnathon, Kimothy, Shannon (Kenton) and Krista (Brian), 8 great grandchildren and the many nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law and cousins in his large family. Due to the current Coronovirus pandemic we will gather for a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Dalhousie.
