Petty Officer 1st Class, Boatswain, RCN

Born: 28 Jan 1941          Died: 19 Aug 2019

BEER, Francis Arthur (Frank) - We are sad to announce that Frank Beer, a dear friend to many, passed away peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on August 19, 2019. Frank was born on January 28, 1941 in Toronto, Ontario. He spent 30 plus years at sea travelling the world while serving in the Navy. After visiting British Columbia on deployment, Frank loved the west coast so much he chose to retire as a veteran in Victoria. Frank was an avid gardener, a talented artist, and extremely hard worker. Frank was dedicated to everything he did with the highest standard of perfection and detail, something Canada Revenue quickly figured out when deciding to audit him a few years ago (haha)!

After retiring as a veteran, Frank continued to work at TPM Management for 23 years. Any spare time he had was spent at the soccer field managing soccer teams over the years with Prospect Lake – making many friends along the way. He was so proud of his Div 1 girls teams’ success and making it to the provincials this year. The team and coach will be lost without him and his famous red hat!

One of Frank’s mottos in life was don’t stop until you drop and – if he had his way – he would have continued working up until his last day on this earth. Frank finally had to start to slow down when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 which he fought with all his might.

Frank was a bit of a lone wolf in the world but touched so many lives with his generosity, kindness, and willingness to help others. He always put others first and would go above and beyond for the people he cared about while not expecting or wanting anything in return. He leaves behind his brother Mike Beer and close friends, Maddy Blanchard, Jeremy McChesney, Adriano Sumberac, Noni Baanstra, Amanda Laton, Jim and Marie Jennings, Jules Nagy, Debbie Hunt, Mandy Porter, and of course his favorite dog, Harley.

A celebration of life will be held for Frank at Layritz Park Field Clubhouse on September 21, 2019 from 6:00pm - 11:00pm. Food and drinks will be provided.
