In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
CAMPEAU, Robert Louis Joseph - Robert was born on March 11, 1932, in Brebeuf, Que., to Wilfrid and Florida Campeau. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Arab Campeau, of 63 years, one of the first mixed cultural marriages. Robert and Marie had three children, Henry Campeau (Rose), Gerard Campeau (Adrianne), Pauline Campeau Francis (Joseph), and nine grandchildren. Robert joined the Navy in 1952. He dedicated 35 years to military and public service. Robert's commitment and service earned him many accolades and medals. He will best be remembered for his love of cars, especially the Cadillac. He would often enjoy long rides with his family, mainly to Quebec, to visit his home. He will also be fondly remembered for his incredible baking skills; in particular, for his dark chocolate cake and rhubarb raspberry pie. Robert was mechanically inclined. He built his childhood home with his father, and assisted friends and family with repairs. In the late '60s, Robert, also affectionately known as Uncle Bob, and Marie sponsored many Lebanese immigrants. They felt passionate about helping family members journey into a new life in Canada. They guided and supported many along a path to Canadian citizenship. On September 26, 2020, at the age of 88, retired Sergeant Robert Campeau passed away. Condolences will be accepted on Tuesday, September 29th in Our Lady of Lebanon Church Hall, 111 Clayton Park Dr., Halifax, between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Robert lived a full and joyous life. He will be deeply missed by all those who love him. A funeral service in Robert's memory will be held on Wednesday, September 30th at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lebanon Church. A link will be made available through Eventbrite to register for attendance. A quote by Robert, "A life is like a library burning down. When someone dies, the knowledge is lost with them".
