Born: 14 Oct 1930

Died: 31 Dec 2016, Dundas, Ontario

McNAIR, William Thomas (Bill) - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father at St. Joseph's Villa in Dundas on December 31, 2016 at the age of 86 years. Bill is survived and sadly missed by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Mary (nee Vagasky). He will also be sadly missed by sons Steven (Sandy) and Bryan and daughter Colleen (Mike) Banitsiotis. Proud and loving grandfather of Leanne, Michael, Braydon, Katie, Taylor, Alec and great-grandson Mason. He loved his grandchildren so very much and they will all miss him immensely. Brother of the late May (late Victor) Hinnells, Louise (Paul) Shewfelt and Carol (George) Thompson. Brother-in-law to the late John (late Rita) Vagasky and the late Betty (late Joe) Nedelko. He will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Bill was a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy (1951-56), then served with the Hamilton Police Force for a brief period before joining IBM Canada where he worked in the computer industry for 35 years. After Bill retired, he really got into computers. He was a master. From his early years with the RCN he found his passion for travel that continued until a few years ago. Our family would like to extend our appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton and staff at St. Joseph's Villa in Dundas for their unwavering understanding and care of Bill and supporting our mother as his primary caregiver over the past three years. For those who wish, memorial donations to Alzheimer's research and/or St. Joseph's Villa would be appreciated by the family. Resting at the Bay Gardens Funeral Home in Hamilton, there will be a private family service only. (Hamilton Spectator 04 Jan 2017)
