Citation for British Empire Medal - CHILDS, Robert Grenville, Leading Cook (S), V8844, British Empire Medal (BEM), RCNVR - Awarded as per Canada Gazette of 5 January 1946 and London Gazette of 1 January 1946.  "During a period of over two years in one of His Majesty's Canadian destroyers, this rating has displayed outstanding zeal, efficiency, reliability and cheerfulness in the performance of his duties. His efforts and devotion to duty at all times have been an inspiration and stimulus to all with who he has come in contact."
