MacKINNON, Donald Roderick (D.R.) - aged 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 9th in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. D.R. was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, having served as a cook on the HMCS AlLGONQUIN. He was a long-time member and past president of the Inverness Legion branch 132. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Anne (Bruce) in Malagash and Jean (Winston) in Inverness. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Neil and Jessie; siblings, Sonny, Lauchie (Rose), Lorraine (Robert) and Jackie (Gloria). Funeral service will take place on February 20th 2021 in St. John's United Church, Strathlorne at 2pm. There will be short visitation in the hour preceding the service. Donations may be made to Saint John United Church or to the Central Inverness Palliative Care Society. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the palliative care team and to the Inverness hospital for their compassionate care during these difficult times. (Inverness Funeral Home)
