Born: 1937, Regina, Saskatchewan

 

Died: 12 Apr 2021, Victoria, British Columbia

 

White, Jim (The Mayor) - passed peacefully with family at his side, on April 12, 2021 at Broadmead Lodge in his 83rd year. Predeceased by his loving wife Betty and his son Ken. He is survived by his children Wendy, Rob, Jim (Sandra) and Jerry. He adored his grandchildren Elizabeth (Carey), Brad (Kelsey), Shauna (Spencer), Alyssa and Tyler (Christina and great-grandson Lucas). Jim and Betty enjoyed travelling in their motor home. Jim also loved music, photography and dogs!

 

Jim was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was the last survivor of 6 children. He enlisted in the Navy at 16 and was on his way to Korea as the war ended. He returned to Regina with a wife and 2 babies where he joined the Regina City Police. The couple preferred Victoria where they met, and returned with 2 more babies, where a 5th was born. Jim joined the Saanich Police Department and became the first Municipal canine master on Vancouver Island with puppy Rex. They were called upon many times to keep the citizens of Victoria safe. Jim also worked as a Detective, was on the Drug Squad and in Morality.
