OWENS, Cecil Clifford (Cec) - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Cecil "Cec" Clifford Owens which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 28th, 2021. Born 1941, in Norris Arm North, NL, he was the son of the late Titus and Nellie (Whitt) Owens. In his earlier years, Cec served with the Canadian Navy. He worked for Northern Telecom in Ontario and was Manager of Tandy Leather in Saint John. He later retired as Commissionaire at Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Cec was a quiet man who had great love for his family. He also loved to tinker with electronics and enjoyed fixing things. Cec never forgot his Newfoundland roots. Cec is survived by his loving and devoted wife Rhoda "Kay" (Hicks) of Saint John; daughter Cindy MacFarlane (Mike) of Chance Harbour; brother Irving Manuel (Nancy) of Lyn, ON; sister Daphne Manuel Freake of Glovertown, NL; sister-in-law Carol; grandchildren Krista, Alice and Emily; step-granddaughters Erin and Alison; great grandchildren Sage, Matilda and Everett; step-great grandson Noah; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Cec was predeceased by his brothers Lloyd, Malcolm and Frederick, sister Verna, sisters-in-law Millicent, May and Bernice and brother-in-law Bert. Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30th from 2 to 3 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place in the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Sunday, January 31st at 10 a.m. by invitation only. Interment will be held at Sackville Four Corners Burial Ground at a later date. Due to public health's pandemic restrictions and to maintain everyone's safety: masks are mandatory and physical distancing will be respected. Donations in memory of Cec may be made to the SJRH-Palliative Care Unit, Alzheimer's Society of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor's choice. (Telegraph Journal 28 Jan 2021)
