Paul Edwin Garrett

RCNVR

Born: 30 Sep 1926          Died: 08 May 2021

GARRETT, Paul Edwin - passed away peacefully with family around him. Paul was born in Hamilton and served in the Navy in the Second World War. From childhood on, Paul was always most at home in the forest. He was a gentle man who enriched the lives of all who met him with his deep and sincere spirituality, and his sense of humour. Even in troubled times, Paul could find something absurdly funny and, in his way, offer strength and insight to those around him. Our family is grateful to Eleanor Cook, who celebrated his beautiful singing voice and artistic bent in the time they knew each other. Helen Bilodeau from Veterans affairs, his palliative nurse Kim from SE Health, all offered kindness and comfort through his later illness for which we are very grateful. Predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Mary Garrett, daughter Joan and brothers Victor and Harold Garrett. Paul goes to join his partner, Betty, in a place where the conversation never has to end. Paul leaves his daughter Jane and her husband Chris, and in Calgary, his son Mark and grandson Jason. Paul also leaves many dear nieces and nephews, and squirrels who will miss seeing their friend on his daily walks. There will be no visitation. A private interment at Woodland Cemetery will follow at a later date. Remembrances to the Rankin Cancer Run or local SPCA would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Pleasantview Funeral Home  905-892-1699. (The Hamilton Spectator 10 May 2021)
