Don had a lifelong passion for fishing and anything to do with the water. When he retired from fishing he bought Malpeque Gardens where he was able to indulge his other passion of growing things, something he learned growing up on the family farm in Margate. He ran Malpeque Gardens as a tourist attraction for several years alongside his wife, Ina and daughter, Kim.
