Norman Julius Bucsis

 

Medical Assistant, RCN

 

Born: 27 Mar 1935, Bangor, Saskatchewan

 

Died: 20 May 2021, Victoria, British Columbia

 

BUCSIS, Norman Julius - was born in Bangor, Saskatchewan and passed away on May 20, 2021 at Victoria Hospice. He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Shaw, parents Jane and Julius Bucsis, second wife Brenda Baker and sister, Brenda. He is survived by his children Ted (Ida), Valerie and Brad, and his 8 grandchildren, brother Donald, and his faithful companion Pookey (aka Dakota).

 

Norm joined the Navy for 9 years as a medic, then started at St. Joseph’s Hospital as an orderly and ended his 37 year long career at Victoria General Hospital as a Biomedical Engineer. Norm was a hockey referee for 33 years and umpire. He enjoyed his volunteering, gardening, making wine, fishing with Brenda and loved skiing and animals. Dad was a big sports fan and loved his Roughriders, BC Lions, Leafs, Canucks and Blue Jays. Dad will be missed by his ski buddies, family, friends and retirement home Alex Mackie Lodge. A very special thank you to Victoria Hospice for their care.

 

A service at the Royal Canadian Legion, will be announced at a later date. Donations, if desired, may be made to the BC SPCA.  (Victoria Times Colonist 29 May 2021)
