ZAHN, Arthur K. - passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on Thursday May 6, 2021 at age 89. Born July 31, 1931 in London, Ont. He was the son of the late Walter Zahn (Germany) and Jeannie Westwater (Scotland). Art was predeceased by his first wife, Alicia Hart (Margeson) Zahn. He is survived by his daughter, Karen; and his son, Steven (Sandra Mason); sisters, Audrey Wilson, of Goderich Ont.; Sonja Franklyn of Courtney, B.C., and their families. His second wife, Maxine (MacBeth Court) and stepdaughter, Cindy (Kirk), all of Dartmouth; stepson, Peter (Nancy) and Derek all of Vancouver; step grandchildren, Nicholas, Whitehorse; and Nadia, Honduras; and great-granddaughter, Marion, Whitehorse. Art retired after 25 years in the Canadian Navy and 12 years at DND. While working fulltime, Art and his business partners, started one of the first Dive shops in HRM, Aqua Dive Scuba Shop. Hundreds of divers learned their trade through classes taught by Art at Acadia and HRM. Art was happiest being on, under or near the water as evidenced by his boating, diving, mussel farming and boat building. Due to COVID, cremation has taken place, as per Art’s wishes, his ashes will be cast at sea at a later date. A special thank you to the staff of Alderney, Lewis Hall, Parkland Dartmouth for their loving care in the last six months. The family would also like to thank all doctors and nurses of 5 East Dartmouth General Hospital for their compassionate care. Flowers gratefully declined.
