TESSIER, Tom - Peacefully at home, with his beloved wife, on Sunday, June 13th, 2021 of Tom Tessier, Charlottetown, at 75 years of age. As we painfully watched the vascular dementia disease take him away from us, we cherished the moments when he was still able to give us a witty remark or sometimes just a knowing smile. He leaves to mourn his wife of almost 51 years, June (Harding), his devoted children Carolyn (Colin) Weeks and Steven (Lori) Tessier. He was a wonderful Papère to Claire and Leah Tessier; Simon and Martin Weeks. Caring brother to Bob (Natalia) Tessier, Ottawa, Lorraine (Bob) Sinclair and a special uncle to Lindsay Sinclair all on Vancouver Island. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and René Tessier, sister Marcelle Taschereau, parents-in-law Clark and Ella Harding and brother-in-law Allyn Harding. Tom came to Canada from Trimdon Grange, England with his mother (a war bride) and sister in 1946. The family settled in Ottawa. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1965 and was based in Halifax where he met a young nurse from PEI whom he later married in 1970. Tom and June moved from Halifax to PEI in 1972. Tom’s stories of growing up in Ottawa and his time in the navy will always live on in our hearts. He was a story teller who could make those around him smile and often laugh out loud. He shared many enjoyable connections with people on the Island from student days at UPEI , playing broomball, working in sales, Commissionaire at Veterans Affairs, and his involvement in junior hockey with the Sherwood Parkdale Metros, Sherwood minor hockey, the PEI Rocket and the Charlottetown Islanders. A special thank you to Dr. S. Keizer and Laura for their ongoing support. We are grateful that Tom was able to stay at home with help from the staff at Home Instead, Queens Home Care and in the final days, the Palliative Home Care services. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home. A private (Invitation Only) funeral service will be held at Park Royal United Church. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of PEI or the Queens Home Care Program. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 15 Jun 2021)
