SPIKE, James Arnold (Jim) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear friend, James Arnold Spike on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

 

Born in Halifax, Jim was the son of the late Seldon and Ruby (Conrad) Spike.

 

As a young man Jim served in the navy as well as the coast guard. For the past 16 years he enjoyed his position with Staford Traffic Control. His Staford family will greatly miss his faithful presence.

 

He will be sadly missed by his close friends, Troy and Leslie McCarthy and their children, Hank, Grace and Annie; also mourning his loss is his close companion, Kiernan Bishop (Megan) and their daughter, Kiera.

 

Jim is survived by his brothers, Walter, Kenneth, Bobbie, and sister, Shirley.

 

Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Barbara.

 

By Jim’s request cremation has taken place. A private ceremony will be held in Jim’s memory and he will make his last trip to Lawrencetown Beach where his remains will find their final resting place. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
