CARNEY, John Joseph - 68, Dartmouth, died January 15, 1994, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Liverpool, England, he was a son of the late John and Kate (Welsh) Carney. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Navy. He later retired from the Royal Canadian Navy after 21 years of service. He was a member of the Chiefs and Petty Officers Association, Halifax. He is survived by his wife, Edna; two sons, Philip, Ottawa; John, Dartmouth; two sisters, Kitty Carney, Joan McGuinness, both of Liverpool; brother, Philip, Liverpool; four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Thompson. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Paul Williams officiating.
