Died: 08 Jan 2003, Vancouver, British Columbia

MacLEAN, Harriet Emily (nee JEFFRIES) - "Dolly", "Jeff", "Little Flower", "Fluffy", passed away peacefully at 2 pm, Wednesday, January 8th, 2003, at Dogwood Lodge in Vancouver, BC, at the age of 86 years. Born in London, England, March 5th, 1916, Harriet came to Canada by ship in 1929, and at a young age, worked in Toronto and Montreal before joining the WRCNS to serve as a nurse at Halifax, NS. Coming to the west coast in 1946, she lived a life rich with joys and sorrows. Her senior years were happily spent lunching with friends and indulging in her passions for playing piano, reading and creative writing. Predeceased by her loving husband, Norman Bell MacLean, who died tragically at sea October 22nd, 1951, and by her beloved sister, Adah and devoted brother Charles in 1997. Survived by her daughter Kathryn; grandson, Dylan; dear brother, Harry; nephews, Paul and David; and niece, Elizabeth. Jeff will be remembered by many as a lively, loyal, life-long friend and by her family as a miniature dynamo who taught us much by freely sharing her zest for life. There will be no service held at her request. Friends so wishing, may make a donation in memory of Harriet to the Alzheimer Society of BC. (Vancouver Sun 01 Feb 2003)
