Born: 20 Dec 1933, Lally Cove, Newfoundland

 

Died: 26 Sep 2021, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

KEEPING, Burton Yuill - age 87 of Dartmouth passed away September 26, 2021 at the Halifax Infirmary.

 

Born in Lally Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, he was the son of Eliza (nee:Foote) and John Charles Keeping

 

He served as a Chief Petty Officer 2 in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1952 to 1983. Known as the Silver Fox, the meals he prepared as a chef were enjoyed by sailors, diplomats and royalty alike. Following his retirement, he became known for his upholstery and woodworking skills.

 

Loving father and grandfather to sons, John (Marina), Paul (Anita); grandchildren Jacob (Jasmine) Keeping, Adrien (Kristy) Keeping, Grace Keeping, Dayne (Sarah) Kelly, Jared (Robin) Duggan, Joseph Wilson, Kaleigh Duggan, Dakota Keeping; 7 Great-Grandchildren; and niece Chris Grantham.

 

Predeceased by his loving wife Rose; son David in infancy; granddaughter Anjelica Keeping.

 

Due to COVID restrictions, funeral will be for immediate family only.

 

Burial will take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

 

Donations in his memory may be made to Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building.
