ASHDOWN, Rosalie (née Churchill) - born February 3, 1921, passed into the Presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Her death was precipitated by a fall which fractured her hip. Rosalie was born in the Mainroad district of Rama, Saskatchewan, to her parents George and E. Nora Churchill who came from England and brought up their family in the Christian faith. She was predeceased by her parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters, and her husband Ed Ashdown. She is survived by her sisters, Mabel Johnson and Miriam Miller of Kelowna, step-sons Arden (Donna) Ashdown of Penticton and Glen (Grace) Ashdown of Minneapolis, as well as many nieces and nephews. Rosalie served in the Navy "Wrens" in World War II and was fondly active with the local Veterans group. Following her naval career, she upgraded her education and then received her Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Her work experience extended from Halifax to Victoria. In 1993 she married Ed Ashdown of Penticton. A friendly and caring person, with an abundance of wit and humour, Rosalie made many friends during her lifetime, many of whom graciously remembered her with cards, notes and visits during her time in long term care. She is now at rest in a much better place. Our family wishes to thank the nurses and caregivers at The Hamlets for their loving care of Rosalie. A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel of Everden Rust Funeral Services, 1130 Carmi Avenue, Penticton, on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM. We welcome you to the service with fellowship and snacks following. Due to current Covid restrictions attendance will be limited to 50 people.
