Died: 11 Oct 2021, Midland, Ontario

 

EDWARD, Donald Warren - of Midland, WW II navy veteran, died peacefully at Hillcrest Village Care Centre on October 11 at the age of 101. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Smith) in 1985. Survived by his daughter, Joan Shantz (Robert) of Midland. Predeceased by his son Albert (Lynda) of Mission BC. Cherished grandfather of Sandra (Rick) and Jim (Laura) of Waterloo County, Sherry (Mark), Donald (Denise) and Nicole of Mission BC. Proud great grandfather of 11 (Melissa, Brian, Kiria, Kogan, MacKeely, Taydon, Jeremy, Kayley, Tyler, Sasha and Samatha) and great-great grandfather of 3 (Kayleigh, Jayden and Wyatt) Predeceased by one great granddaughter (Jadia). Survived by his brother Franklin (Muriel). Predeceased by his brother Marshall (Isobel). He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Don spent most of his life on Midland Point where he enjoyed making assorted projects in his workshop. He also enjoyed a large garden and shared the excess of vegetables and Gladiolas by selling them in his lane-way. As a machinist he worked at the midland foundry and later retired from Bay Mills. At Dons request, cremation has taken place. A family celebration of life is to be held at a later date. In his honour donations would be appreciated to Midland Salvation Army or the Georgian bay general Hospital.
