Died: 27 Jun 2021, Stittsville, Ontario

 

HARRISON, Hyliard George (Sonny) - passed away peacefully in his sleep early Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the Stittsville Villa. He was Predeceased by his wife of 65 years Beryl, his son Derrick, and Derrick's wife Joanne. Also predeceased by his brother Peter "Bud" Harrison. Sonny is survived by his sisters Shirley Hendricks (Neil, deceased), Margaret Rose Davis (Kip), and brother Paul (Iolanda, deceased). Sonny is also survived by his sons, Robin (Wendy), Kevin (Marilyn) and Joey (Shelley). He leaves behind sisters and brothers-in-law, Grand, Great-Grand, Great-Great-Grandchildren and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins from Whitehorse to Elgin, NB, the US and Europe and Turks and Caicos. Sonny was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He served on a few ships including the Corvette "HMCS ORILLIA" and the Frigate "THETFORD MINES" during the Battle of the Atlantic. After the War he settled in Stittsville, where he raised his family. He worked in construction for many years but ended his career with 25 years at Nepean Hydro. Those who've come to know him would describe him as a Character, a gentleman, a wit, a charmer and will definitely smile when they think of him. Family members might suspect he's not really gone; he's just "snuck away somewhere to take another nap."
