Marilyn Jean (née Bishop)

C.A.F. (Navy)

Died: 03 Sep 2021, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia

OLIVER, Marilyn Jean (née BISHOP) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family at the Annapolis Community Health Centre on September 3rd, 2021, Marilyn Jean Oliver, at the age of 69 years. Leaving to mourn husband Shawn, daughter Danielle (Jim Moore), son Simon Babineau (Karen Rehner), granddaughter Rebecca Chervin, brother Robert Bishop (Dawn) and a wide circle of relatives and friends throughout Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia. Marilyn was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1951 and brought up in the Goulds, a farming community near the city. An early stint in the Royal Canadian Navy led to a peripatetic existence for several years followed by motherhood and then a second career as a teacher in locations around Newfoundland and Labrador. Retirement brought Marilyn and Shawn to Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley and ironically to the community where she did her basic training in the Navy. Beyond her teaching career, Marilyn was perhaps more interested in, and certainly enjoyed much more, her always active interest in theatre as an actress and director, in choral singing in several different groups and in the company of friends and family. Cremation has taken place under the care of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A funeral service will be held 1pm Tuesday September 7, 2021 from St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal, with Rev. Juanita Barteaux officiating. There will be no interment at this time. Donations in Marilyn’s Memory may be sent to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada - Halifax Chapter. (The Saltwire Network 07 Sep 2021)
