ROUTH, John Meredith, Motor Mechanic, V47208, RCNVR - MPK 14 Feb 1945, 29th MTB Flotilla - Son of Albert and Cherrie Meredith Routh, of Vancouver, BC; husband of Edith Gwendolyn Routh, of Canoe, BC.

 

MM John Routh was serving in the 29th MTB Flotilla as a Motor Mechanic when a fire and explosion resulted in the destruction of several ships of the 29th flotilla in Ostend Harbour, Belgium. His body was never recovered.

 

Ships served in:

HMCS DISCOVERY - Enlisted 28 Aug 1942 as a Stoker 1c (M). Commenced Active Service 28 Aug 1942. Rated A/Motor Mechanic 28 Aug 1942

HMCS YORK - Served in York 01 Jan 1943 - 19 Apr 1943 as a A/MM, RCNVR

29TH MTB FLOTILLA - Drafted to the 29th MTB Flotilla 13 Dec 1944
