George died on 08 Jun 1943 at the RCN Hospital, St. John's, Newfoundland, from major burns suffered in a fire aboard HMCS KITCHENER on 07 Jun 1943. He is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John's, Newfoundland.
