WHITE, Mary Rebecca (Becky) (née BRIMACOMBE) - Veteran of 94 years of age has passed peacefully at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre on November 2, 2017, Becky was born Mary Rebecca Brimacombe in the Township of Strong, Ontario, happily married to Arthur Patrick White for 73 years, lived in Ottawa for 25 years, and before that, in a home they built together near Sundgidge, Ontario, not far from where she was born and grew up on the Brimacombe family farm. Becky served as a Wren in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRCNS), during WWII, and was awarded "The Bletchley Park Commemorative Badge" by the British High Comission in 2016, for her work in signals intelligence. Art and Becky raised a family of 3 boys in the Montreal area after the war. In retirement they worked for the Shantymen Christian Organization, and enjoyed square dancing together into their 90's. Becky is survived by her husband, Arthur, 3 sons, Richard, Norman, and Steven, her 5 grandchildren, Michael, Johanna, Laura, Alex, and Charlotte, and her 4 great grandchildren, William, Kamen, Elara, and Xander. A memorial service will be held at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church at 1475 Merivale Road, on Saturday November 18, at 1:30 pm. Donations may be made to The Perley, where the medical team and staff continue to provide outstanding care and compassion. (The Ottawa Citizen 13 Nov 2017)
