M. Thelma Barnhouse (née Martin)

Born: 19 Mar 1919, Drumheller, Alberta

 

Died: 02 Jan 2012, Edmonton, Alberta

 

BARNHOUSE, M. Thelma (née MARTIN) - passed away at the age of 92. She leaves to mourn her loving son Donald (Karin) and two grandchildren, Greg and Erin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and long time friends. Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Mabel Martin, two brothers, Carl and Ken and three sisters, Isabel McLean, Phyllis Jensen and Fern Petersen. Thelma spent her childhood in Drumheller and joined the Women's Royal Canadian Navy known as the WRENS in January of 1943. She was discharged in October of 1945. In 1951 she moved to Edmonton and worked at the Aberhart Hospital for 33 years. In January of 2010 Thelma moved into the Good Samaritan Care Centre at Southgate where she resided until her death. Funeral Services will be held on January 7, 2012 2:00 p.m. at Gospel Centre, 9445 - 153 Street, Edmonton. Pastor Murray Coughlan will be officiating with interment at Westlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial tributes may be made to Gospel Centre Building Fund or a charity of ones choice. (The Edmonton Journal 05 Jan 2012)
