Clifford Walter (Cliff) Gow

GOW, Clifford Walter (Cliff) - age 96, passed away peacefully, on January 12, 2022.

 

He is predeceased by wife Joan (Forrest); his parents, Herb and Jessie (Squires); his sister Evelyn; and his brothers, Blake and Wes. He is survived by his daughter Tracey (Ricki); son Colin; granddaughters, Keri (Chris) and Ainsley; great-grandchildren, Marcus and Allison; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Born in St. Vital and growing up on Arden Ave., Cliff received his education locally and was a member of the Third Winnipeg Cubs and was a Patrol Leader in Scouts. Cliff joined The Royal Canadian Navy during The Second World War, stationed on HMCS ST BONIFACE, serving in active duty on North Atlantic Convoys. After an honourable discharge, he was employed at Campbell Dental Laboratory, Standard Brands LTD (Nabisco) for 20 years, 16 as office manager. He was then employed with the Province of Manitoba, Finance Department for 22 years and retired in 1991.

 

Cliff and Joan were married in 1952, had two children, Tracey and Colin after moving into the VLA settlement of Rivercrest in 1958. After retirement, Cliff enjoyed golf, curling, time spent with family and being at the cottage, where he frequently went blueberry picking.

 

Cliff was a member of The White Ensign Naval Association and held various executive positions, Master at Arms and was a member of the Colour Party. He was also a member of The West Kildonan Legion for 55 years, both Rivercrest and West St. Paul Curling Clubs and the St John's Lawn Bowling Club.

 

Services will be held later at a later date.
