MacNEIL, John Rory, Stoker 1c, A2447, RCNR, died - 01 Oct 1942, HMCS MAYFLOWER - Son of John A. J. and Mary MacNeil, of Barra Glen, Victoria Co., NS.
Stoker 1st Class J. R. MacNeil was found drowned in Londonderry, Ireland harbour. Stoker MacNeil failed to rejoin his ship HMCS MAYFLOWER after shore leave. He was reported absent after his ship left port. His body was recovered from the harbour on October 12, 1942. His date of death is presumed to be 01 Oct 1942, the day he failed to return from leave. Stoker MacNeil is buried in the Londonderry City Cemetery, Londonderry, Northern Ireland
