James Vincent Latimer (né Astolfo)

RCNVR

Born: 08 Dec 1925         Died: 02 Feb 2022

LATIMER, James Vincent (Jim) (né ASTOLFO) - Jim was a World War II Navy veteran (HMCS Galt, North Atlantic theatre). Although he had to leave school at the age of 13 to support his family, his love of learning led him to take numerous courses and to eventually graduate from Queen's University in 1969 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was an employee at Alcan for 40 years and retired as Works Engineering Manager in 1985. Although based mainly in Ontario, his career took him across Canada and to other locations including Nigeria. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth; They enjoyed 69 wonderful years together, many of them at their cottage on Buck Lake.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Joanne Latimer and Deborah (Eric) Bundock, and his son Richard Latimer, his grandchildren Jonathon Alward, Laura (Jayme Shelley) Alward, Sara (Greg Manning) Latimer, Megan Latimer, and Kathryn (Jason Office) Latimer, and his great grandchildren Mary, Claire, Adelaide and Emerson Alward, Jane, Alice and Victoria Shelley, Alyssa and Olivia Latimer, and Sydney Office.

An Engineer to the end, Jim carefully planned it so that he had all his ducks in a row, before moving on to his next project on 2/2/22 - good one Jim!

Cremation has taken place, and as per his wishes, there will be no service. (The Whig Standard 05 Feb 2022)
