MacCORKINDALE, Robert John, OA, V39411, RCNVR, MPK - 19 Feb 1944, HMCS KOOTENAY - Son of John Hugh MacCorkindale, and of Agnes Reid MacCorkindale, of Chatsworth, ON; husband of Mary I. MacCorkindale, of Port Elgin, ON.

 

OA MacCorkindale died when he was washed overboard from HMCS KOOTENAY in heavy weather at sea. His body was not recovered.

 

Ships served in:

HMCS YORK - Enlisted 09 Jun 1942.  Commenced Active Service 09 Jun 1942

HMS DECOY / HMCS KOOTENAY - Drafted to decoy 08 Apr 1943 as an A/OA 4c, RCNVR.  DECOY transferred to the RCN on 12 Apr 1943 and re-named HMCS KOOTENAY. Rated OA 4c 09 Jun 1943
