ARMSTRONG, Beatrice Enid (née SWANSON) - Passed away peacefully on September 19, 2006 with Bill Armstrong, her husband of sixty years, sitting at her side. Born in Victoria on July 2, 1918, where her father, Archdeacon Cecil (Swanny) Swanson was Rector of Metchosin and Sooke. She is survived by her husband Bill; her daughter Barbara (and husband Grady Kittleson); sons, Gordon and Laurie (and wife Winnifred); her grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Matthew, Tara and Noah. She was comforted at the end by her many friends, particularly her block pals on Arthur Drive, Saanichton. Bea spent the war years in the Wrens posted in Halifax, until Bill returned from Europe and they married. They made their home in Calgary, spending every summer at the cottage in Waterton Park. She rode her beloved horses all over the country, until she was bucked off for the last time at age eighty-two and finally gave them up. She demonstrated the same spirit and resolve in every walk of life. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Holy Trinity Church, 1319 Mills Road, Sidney (Pat Bay - West Saanich Road). (The Calgary Herald 23 Sep 2006)
