TIPPET, Frances Marietta Malins (née ALLEY) - We are sad to announce that our mother, Frances Tippet, passed away in Ottawa on April 2. Mum was in her 100th year and had led a long and active life, predeceased by her husband Ron in 1998 as well as siblings, Joan, Aileen and Peter Alley. After growing up in Toronto, Mum served in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (the WRENS) during WWII and married Dad in 1950. They lived in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Saskatoon before retiring in Ottawa where she had a full life centred on the Royal Ottawa Golf Club, bridge, May Court volunteer work and many friends. She is survived by daughters Shelagh (Stephen Fagyas); Jane (Tim Hardy); and Jacqueline (Rob Halupka); 6 grandchildren and one great- granddaughter. A private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation in Mum's honour she suggested the May Court Club of Ottawa. (The Globe and Mail 09 Apr 2022)

Frances was a member of the first class of Wrens to join the WRCNS.
