O'CONNOR, Alfred Lawrence - With great sadness, the family of Alfred (Lawrence) O'Connor, beloved Father, Poppy, and Great-Poppy announce his passing in his 98th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Annie (Reilly, 2008); survived by his loving children Donna (Bill), Maureen, Raymond (Janet) & Alan (Angie); Adored Poppy to Breanne (Matt), James (Jessica), & Mathew; Great Poppy to Kaylee & Keira. Alfred was born and raised in Cape Wolfe, PEI. Predeceased by his parents Raymond & Bernice (Crossman) O'Connor; Siblings Arthur, Laura (Frank), Eunice (Carl), Ella (Jim), Edward (Brigette), Daniel, & Trudy (Carl). He will fondly be remembered by his sister-in-laws; Mae Wedge (Hamilton, ON), Janet (Burton, PEI), Eileen (Dale) McKenna (Alberton, PEI), and Rhoda McCarvell (Hamilton, ON); as well as a host of nieces, nephews. Dad's favourite place to be was spending his summers with mom at their cottage in Cape Wolfe, PEI, where he could enjoy his time with family reminiscing about "the good old days" and his favourite pass times of looking out at the boats passing by, pulling out his guitar for family jam nights, and getting a fresh feed of lobster from Howards Cove. Alfred was a proud WW2 Navy Veteran and a Dofasco retiree from the Slinger Floor Foundry. He dedicated his life to providing for his family and setting an example of a hard-working gentleman. The family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Macassa Lodge especially floor C2W for all their care, compassion, and kindness. Alfred thought of all the RNs and PSW's as his "darlings". Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Cresmount Funeral Home, Hamilton. Due to COVID, private service with immediate family will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. A donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated in place of flowers. "Words cannot express the sadness and loss our family is feeling. With a kiss on your head - until we see you again dad" "Poppy, we love you" (The Hamilton Spectator 26 Apr 2022)
