SCAMMELL, James Charles - It is with great sadness we announce that James “Jim” Charles Scammell, age 80, of Bible Hill passed away on July 25, 2022, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Jim was a legendary story teller and could easily entertain his audience for hours. He loved to read, garden, play the fiddle and take trips to Cape Breton where he had family roots. Jim served with the Royal Canadian Navy for several years and for 56 years worked as an electrician for Local 625, IBEW. Jim is survived by his two sons, Kevin (Stephanie) and Peter (Denise) and his six grandchildren, Julia, Sarah, Dylan, Bailey, Chet and Bria; his longtime partner, Debra Parker, will miss his company dearly, their 30 years together were unforgettable; her children, Sean Parker (Holly Langille), Natalie Parker (Michael), her grandchildren, Emma, Brooklynn and Blake; Jim’s siblings, Tom, Anne, David and Susan; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Isobel (Austin) Scammell; brothers, Frank and Willard. In keeping with his wishes there will be no services. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia Lung Association. Debra and the family would like to especially thank Jim’s brother David for always being there no matter what was asked of him and to the doctors and staff of Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their kindness and support during Jim’s final days.
