Died: 02 Oct 2019

 

KEIRSTAD, Garnet Alan - Age 76, of New Minas, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Alan and Marjorie (Sainsbury) Keirstead. A veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, he was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, King's Branch No. 6, Kentville, for over 50 years. He then worked for IGA Stores, Cornwallis Dairy, Lattimer Construction, and Cornwallis Ready Mix (later Rice's), from where he retired. He also briefly co-owned a local taxi business. His quick wit and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him, and his love of family will be greatly missed by children, Letty and Gregory; grandchildren, Patricia (Richard) and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Logan and Heidi; sister, Bonnie (Karen); brother, Robin (Cathy) and very special friend, Marilyn. He was predeceased by brother, Randall, in infancy. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. (The Saltwire Network 02 Oct 2019)
