Telegraphist Peter Thompson of Kindersley was the son of John Howie and Ethel F. (Milne) Thompson. Peter was born at Durham, England, and educated at Renown southwest of Watrous where his family arrived in 1928 (they moved to Kindersley in 1940). His half-brother Jack and half-sister Margaret both served in the Army. Peter was working as a clerk at the T.M. McEwan store at Kindersley when he enlisted on January 06, 1942 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
