In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

John Redican

Royal Navy

Chief Petty Officer 1st Class C.A.F. (Naval Reserves)

Born: 22 Aug 1949          Died: 13 May 2020

REDICAN, John - passed away unexpectedly (of course) at home. Husband to Helen, father to Dan and Tony (Tara) and poppa to Felicia and Trixie. Following a youth of exuberant delinquency in and around Yorkshire, John joined the Royal Navy and proceeded to travel around the world. Upon meeting Helen, while participating in the Cod War, he moved to Canada and continued his career with the Canadian Coast Guard and the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves. An avid rugby player and coach with the Bytown Blues and Immaculata Saints, and a dry stone wall builder in his later years, John leaves behind many friends, memories and stories to be shared. A celebration of his life will be held in the future when possible. In the meantime, in lieu of flowers or donations and in keeping with family tradition, please raise a glass to his memory and do something kind for each other. To plant a tree in memory of John Redican, please visit Tribute Store. (The Ottawa Citizen 15 May 2020)
