John's brother, Robert Thomas Cathrine, AB, RCNVR, died when his ship, HMCS TRENTONIAN, was torpedoed on 22 Feb 1945 by U-1004. Robert's service file mentions that his brother John was serving in the Naval Forces at the time of Robert's death.
