BUTLER, Martin J. - We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Martin J. Butler 87, of Halifax, NS.

He is predeceased by step daughter Judy English, brothers Freeman, Rory, Louis and sister Ruth. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He leaves behind six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Martin served in the Canadian Navy as Chief Engineer (Stoker), where he retired after 25 years of service. He then worked as Chief Engineer of the Halifax Metro Centre, Trade Centre Ltd. for 18 years.

He was an avid Coin collector and also collected homemade clocks made by his brother Louis. Martin loved wood working and had every tool you could think of. In his later years he took up family ancestry, where he virtually met up with many new family members, he would spend countless hours "talking with his dead ancestors". He loved watching Fox News and American politics.

He also enjoyed watching "Chick Flicks" with Margaret each night at 9 o'clock. Martin was also a great reader of books. It is important to mention the best neighbour ever, Pam who recently passed away. A special thanks to niece Kelly and his grandson Craig for all their help in the last few years. A very special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff in the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre, Emergency Department, 5B Victoria General and EHS.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
