WOOD, Roy Macdonald, Sto 1c, A2433, RCNR, MPK - 05 Nov 1940, HMS JERVIS BAY - Son of John Lindsay Wood and Elizabeth Edith A. Wood, of Waverley, Ontario; husband of Muriel Esther Wood, of Elmdale, Ontario.

 

Roy MacDonald Wood, first-class stoker on board the Jervis Bay, is missing and believed killed in action, has been received here by his bride of six months. Wood sailed with the Jervis Bay from Halifax on Aug. 26. He sailed on the Great Lakes for five years previous to that. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wood, reside at Waverley, Ontario. There are three brothers, Lloyd, Lester and Wallace, who are all Great Lakes sailors. Another brother, Ivan, lives in Midland. Wood was born in September 1914, and attended the Anglican Church at Waverley. (The Globe and Mail 14 Nov 1940)
