Died: 09 Sep 2013, London, Ontario

DARNBROUGH, Walter Lloyd (Danny) - Passed away at McCormick Home in London, Ontario on Monday, September 9, 2013, at the age of 93. Danny’s passing brings a close to those 65 heroic survivors from the epic battle of HMS JERVIS BAY. Born in Toronto to Harry and Louella Darnbrough, brother to Joyce (Bedley) and Jack, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy at 18. His wartime experience would lead him to wife Margaret Leckie Farquhar. They were married in Glasgow. After serving in the Second World War, they settled in Toronto where he served the Toronto Fire Department for 33 years. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three daughters Lesley, Lynne and Lori, his grandchildren Stephanie, Robyn, Scott and Andrew, his great grandchildren Jaiden, Bronn, Tegan, and Kyle, and sons-in-law Dave, Mike, Bob, and Ron, as well as many extended family members and friends. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held in his honour on Saturday Nov. 9, 2013. Details will be made available at a later date. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Marie, Delia, Victor and the amazing staff at McCormick Home for their kind, loving and dedicated care for him throughout his battle with Pick's disease. If desired, expressions of sympathy made in Danny's name may be made to the McCormick Alzheimer's Outreach Services Program. He will be remembered always for the unconditional love he had for his family, his country, and for his unyielding spirit. We walk down memory lane because we love running into you.
