NOYES, John William Robert - Passed peacefully on December 22nd, 2022 in his 96th year. Sadly missed by Val, loving wife of 48 years, stepdaughter Verlene (Norm) and nephew Couston, Kamloops, granddaughter Laura (Olan) Frisvold & two precious Gr Grans (US), niece Judy (Frank) George & family, Nanoose Bay. Predeceased by mother Violet and father Ally, son Alex, sister Kathlene.

 

John grew up in Naramata, BC and graduated from St. George's Boy School in Vancouver, enlisted in Royal Canadian Navy serving East Coast and Atlantic, was wounded and subsequently medically discharged.

 

John became Western Canada Sales Manager for Dewaltt Machinery for several years. Loving the Coast, he moved to Vancouver, started a Marine Installation & Repair business & taught same at UBC.

 

Marrying Val in 1974 and moving to Sidney combined Engine Service with Commercial & Sport Trap Manufacturing, Fishing & Chartering as Silver Spring Ent Ltd for 18 years. John was a life member of RCL Br 37 served in Executive positions as well as Bar manager, Meat Draw Chair & helping for years with Poppy Campaigns.

 

A proud Life member of Vancouver/Quadra Masonic Lodge Victoria.

 

Remembered for his ready smile and quick humor and having a nickname for all he knew.

 

His happiest moments were aboard the Val J 37ft All West, fishing and cruising Vancouver Island.

 

Special thanks to staff at Broadmead Veterans Lodge A3 and thanks to Mike and Sandra who cared for John with compassion and kindness.
