Bryant John McNeil

Died: 01 Feb 2023, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

McNEIL, Bryant John - age 82, of Halifax, passed away on February 1st, 2023 in the VG Hospital, QEII.

 

Born in Aberdeen, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Freda (Matheson) and John MacNeil.

 

Bryant served a 23-year career in the Royal Canadian navy as an electrician, gunner and steward. Following retirement, he served another 23 years with the Corps of Commissionaires. He loved to play baseball and hockey and was a die-hard Yankees fan. He was a lifetime member of the Legion, Scotia Branch #25 and Vimy #27. He volunteered along with his wife Diane at Hope Cottage for over 10 years.

 

Bryant is survived by his wife, Diane (Reid); daughter Heather (John) Haney; sisters, Francine Simpson, Cathy McNeil, Alice Swan, Freda Kennedy (Darrell); and many nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his son Shawn; and his elder sisters.

 

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at the Legion, Vimy Branch #27 at a later date. In accordance with Bryant’s wishes, burial at sea will take place in the spring.
