Gladys Helen Dunn

Born: 14 Oct 1921          Died: 03 Oct 2022

 

DUNN, Gladys Helen - passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022. Predeceased by her brothers Bruce Dunn and Gordon Dunn, both of Vancouver.

 

Lovingly, survived by her nephews and nieces Kathy (Barry), David (Heather), Richard (Bev), Alan (Diane), Douglas (Jan), Janice (Wayne) and her sister-in-law, Colleen Miller Dunn.

 

Gladys was born in Toronto on October 14, 1921. She served in the Navy during WW II and then served with the Red Cross in Korea and Japan during the Korean War. Gladys resided in Ottawa for many years where she held important positions with the Government of Canada. She was the first woman in Canada to be appointed to serve on the Privy Council. In 1985 she retired and moved to Vancouver.

 

Gladys was artistic, loved to travel and enjoyed spending time at her cottage in the Gatineau Hills. Thank you to all of the staff at Amica Arbutus Manor where she resided and the caregivers who assisted her during the last years, especially Raj, Charu and Cathy.

 

A memorial service will be held on January 21, 2023 at Kerrisdale Presbyterian Church. (The Vancouver Sun 05 Nov 2022)
