In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
WRIGHT, Richard Wayne - Age 75 of Clementsport, passed away suddenly on March 20, 2023. Our family has lost an irreplaceable husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. A military career that spanned over 30 years took him from sea to sea and abroad. He served with the RCR, The Queens Own Rifles and the Navy. Never a person to consider retirement, Rick moved his family back to Nova Scotia, after he finished serving in the military and retrained as a barber. He opened and operated the Wright Cut in Digby for 29 years, working daily until his sudden death. Ricks greatest joy was expressed daily caring for his family. From waking Christine up with fresh coffee in the morning when he got home from walking the dogs, to cooking dinner for her, to cleaning her car, the list was endless, just as his love for her was. He shared his love of movies, 50 and 60’s music, muscle cars and long drives with his daughter Jamee. They spent valuable time together creating memories during long drives to the city to see movies. He was our families “go to guy”. Anything, if you needed absolutely anything at all, Rick was there with words of encouragement, a ride if your car broke down, help with tires, or any car part, a kind ear, your driveway plowed, and always with a smile. He helped make our world a safe place. Rick is survived by the loves of his life, his wife and best friend of 53 years, Christine; and his daughter, Jamee (Troy) Robicheau; his grandsons, RJ, Owen and David; brothers, Jack (Marilyn) of Clementsport; Steven (Jean) of Edmonton, Alta.; niece, Christine; and nephew Danny. Left to hold the fort are his faithful dogs Sadie, Pepper and Duke. Dogs are family too. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret (Granny) and Vernon (Friday) Wright. He spoke the truth, fearlessly. Not everyone wanted to hear the truth and when someone hated him for his honesty it cut him deeply and it took him a long time to recover. If you knew Rick hold him close within your mind and heart. Find the courage within yourself to utilize the gifts that make each of us special. Not star power, not intellectual prowess, but the ineffable mystery and extraordinary beauty of the simple human heart. Rick never looked for applause or affirmation for any of his many kindnesses. He was our hero. Celebrate his life, be like Rick, comfortable with yourself and never afraid to show the world exactly who you are. The family welcomes memorial contributions to the SPCA. Christine would like to thank Helen and John Lansdowne, Betty and Bella and EHS for helping Rick. A service for Rick will be held in the Clementsport Legion on Saturday, March 25th at 11 a.m., all are welcome to attend. (The Saltwire Network 23 Mar 2023)
