In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

Edward Hamilton (Ted) Huffman

Naval Cadet, U-00488, UNTD, RCN(R)

Died: 28 Dec 2020

HUFFMAN, Edward Hamilton (Ted), BA, MEd, UE - It is with great sadness that the family announces Ted's sudden passing at home at the age of 83 on Monday, December 28, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents and by older brothers Keith and Ross. Survived by Ann, his wife of 39 years, children Paul (Lorraine), Jeff (Cindy) and by Dave Loucks (Sherri), Sandy Hager (Allan), and Bob Loucks (Deanna), and by grandchildren James (Charlene), Mitchell, Ben, Tyler, Bradley, Olivia and Harper. Ted's career was in education and he taught at both Burlington and Wentworth County before moving north to Timmins to teach History. He had wonderful memories as Principal of Roland Michener Secondary School for 18 years in South Porcupine. After retiring in 1993 and a move to southwestern Ontario and later to Welland, Ted continued his love of furniture-making, construction projects, sheet metal work, and jack of all trades, solving most problems with his ingenuity and expertise. He served as a director, program chair and as treasurer of the Col. Butler Branch of the United Empire Loyalists' Association. Ted will miss many things: visits with family, the changing seasons, walking the dog, and his many friends, each of whom, he believed, had enriched his life. He will miss his grandchildren and five children whose achievements and successes gave him great pleasure and of whom he was so proud. Most of all he will miss the love of his life, his beloved wife Ann, who he treasured dearly. She provided him with a life of happiness, comfort, strength, and security. In all things and at all times she was his unswerving friend and the perfect partner who never failed to make everything possible. (The St. Catharines Standard 04 Jan 2021)

Ted' father, Henry Huffman, served in the RNCVR during the First World War. His brothers, Keith Cameron Huffman and Henry Ross Huffman, served in the RCNVR during the Second World War.
