They made the Ultimate Sacrifice
From the memories of sailors who knew Cal - During a port visit by HMCS CAPE SCOTT, Cal died in a plane crash while attempting to take off in a plane (that he was not authorized to do) at Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. At the time of his death Cal was working as the C&POs messman.
